CONVERSATIONS WITH KODAMA

2012 – 2014  /  Lasercut paper  /  70 x 90 cm  /  35 x 24 in

In mythology, trees often represent a connection between worlds, an axis mundi connecting earth and sky. This series suggests the point of crossover between known and unknown worlds. The tree silhouettes from Waiting for Kodama are mirrored and laser cut. The resulting specimens reminiscent of Rorschach tests become totems which are pinned to the wall and offer the viewer an opportunity to slow down and connect to a specific tree spirit and have a conversation with their unconscious mind.
