2014 – 2016 / Graphite and/or charcoal on paper / 320 x 220 cm
Inspired by Zen thought and practice this series of drawings is an exercise in clearing the mind through focus and repetition by drawing circles freehand. I organize this drawing practice through a dynamic system of rules and constraints recurring to mathematical sequences. I play with different methods of prescribing values to movement and position. At other times (Unsequenced series), I intuitively compose without following any particular system. The resulting quality of the traces in both scenarios become a conduit for charting the topography of my mental environment in a determinate, contiguous period of time.
