VHS tape, rebar, reinforced concrete I Variable dimensions
Made from salvaged rebar recovered near my studio—where the foundations of a building were being dismantled to make way for new construction—the work emerges from a site marked by rupture and renewal. These scenes of destruction, so familiar in the images that circulate daily, prompted me to retrieve, clean, and polish the material as a ritual of care. The rebar, once structural and concealed, is brought into visibility and entwined with VHS magnetic tape, a carrier of latent signals. The work extends beyond its material presence through an invitation: to enter a collective ritual, or tuning session, in which these lines—and the bodies that encounter them—are activated sonically.
