Fluctuations - Sangaku  2022
Spatial drawing, VHS magnetic tape   I   Dimensions variable

Monumental spatial drawing based in the ancient japanese tradition of Sangaku – geometrical theorems hung in Shinto shrines or Buddhist temples during the Edo period. The rigorous physical and mental work of extending lines of magnetic tape on the floor becomes similar to an act of prostration. In this way this shifting hanging diagram linking the measurable (mathematics) to the immeasurable (divinity) is created as an offering to the Aomori Contemporary Art Center and its surrounding forrests.
