Blue fire 2022

Set of 5 analog color photograms

27.9 x 35.6cm

The series of photograms titled “Blue Fire” refer to the phenomenon that occurs when sulfur, one of the alchemical elements representing the soul, burns creating a blue flame that resembles lava. The abstract shapes remain open to interpretation. The same is true of the textile work “Untitled” made in collaboration with local weaver Asako Murakami which repurposes old VHS tapes in order to weave novelty into an old tradition. In both cases experimentation with materials engages the body in an act of deep listening to the voice of things.
